Arlene is a woman of many talents. She has woven all of these talents through her illustrious Music career into the fabric of the golden days of the Music Industry as an A&R Executive, written many songs for Film & TV, as well as worked with Indie recording Artists as a Songwriter/Producer.
She continues to expand those talents in today’s “audio/visual” market of digital technology.
Her history in the music industry has enabled her to develop a tremendous base of experience and knowledge in areas that range from A&R Executive (Columbia Records, now SONY MUSIC) to the creative fields of Music Supervision, Producing and Songwriting.
As an A&R executive for over a decade (Manager of A&R) at Columbia/Portrait Records, she worked with such great Artists as Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Ringo Starr, Kenny Loggins, Burton Cummings, Heart, EWF, Journey, and many more. She has also worked with many successful and gifted Producers such as Randy Jackson, Bruce Botnick, Bill Botrell, Daryl Simmons, Ted Templeman, Peter Asher and David Foster, to name a few..
Arlene is an amazing Songwriter/Producer with a special gift of words, melody and production.
Her songs have been sung & recorded by many great artists, such as: Earth, Wind & Fire, Kenny Loggins, David Foster, Celine Dion, The Emotions, Nia Peeples (from the show FAME), Hadas (Epic/Sony), Grand Illusion (Grammy nominated Swedish band); Hello Kitty CD (2009) – sung by Emma Hunton (A lead in the Broadway Hit, “Spring Awakening”), Code (Sherwood Ball, lead singer with Eddie Van Halen from the band Van Halen), Aiym and Ruby Falls, Michaela Paige (3rd runner up on The Voice), and many more.
Her production and creative endeavors brought her into a long lasting relationship with Kenny Loggins through the years. In addition to their on-going collaboration, Arlene & Kenny have worked together on the production of four of his albums (including the highly acclaimed “Leap of Faith”), as well as the organization and production of many of his benefit concerts.
She has also been fortunate to have had many songs in Film, TV, commercials etc. and continues to find her creative voice in this arena. She wrote for the successful TV series, “FAME” (Director Debbie Allen in the mid 80’s) and then in the late 90’s for FAME/LA (MGM). Some of her feature film credits include, opening & end titles for the film “Flamingo Kid” (Matt Dillon/Gary Marshall Director); co-wrote the end title for the film “Fresh Horses” with Kenny Loggins and David Foster (Weintraub Entertainment); feature placement Scary Movie 5 (The Weinstein Company); co-produced & co-wrote the end title “We Got It Goin’ On” for the Disney film and soundtrack: “First Kid” (starring Sinbad) as well as others.
Arlene continued to expand her creative energies in the late 80’s and into the 90’s combining her writing talents with her vast A&R experience by becoming an independent Music Supervisor & Consultant for film & TV. In association with the talents of Michael Dilbeck (Executive VP/Soundtracks, Sony Pictures), and Becky Mancuso (President of Magstripe Entertainment & Senior VP, Sony/Warner) she worked on films such as “The Dream Team” (Imagine Films).
She also worked with Sharal Churchill (Music Supervisor) on projects that include Music Supervision and/or Licensing music for “Benny & Joon”;(MGM) “Untamed Heart” (MGM); “Meteor Man” (MGM); and “Son Of The Pink Panther” (MGM). Continuing as a Music Supervisor, Arlene worked on many great projects as the ICONIC first “Wayne’s World” (Paramount Pictures, Penelope Spheres Director/ as Assoc. Music Supervisor with Maureen Crowe); “It’s My Party” (Randall Kleiser Director/MGM- Music Supervisor); “Natural Born Killers” (Oliver Stone & Bud Carr-Music Consultant / Soundtrack); “Aspen Extreme”(Touchstone Films/Music Supervisor), “Rich Girl” (Joel Bender Film West. Music Supervisor); “The Jacksons, An American Dream” Mini-series (Music Consultant) and more.
Arlene’s A&R heart and passion for Artists keeps her currently hanging out in her studio (Delphinus Studios), developing and co-writing with Producers on projects for International and up and coming Artists. Through her many creative relationships, she has built a rich and extensive Song Catalog of diverse musical genres & eras. (Alethea Music Catalog).
As she evolves, her creative life is also blossoming as a screen and television writer, along with her music talents. With her love of creativity and writing, she has studied under some brilliant screen and television Professors/mentors at UCLA, who’s own successes speak for themselves. She has developed her writing skills in this arena over the last 5 years with a feature film script and TV Series Script (Pilot) and has opened a new door to her creative gifts.
Arlene complements her talents by taking her knowledge and experience into the classroom. She has been an adjunct Professor in Songwriting for well over two decades at UCLA Extension (Performing Arts) where she received the Dean’s Distinguished Instructor Award. She also pioneered the first Songwriting Classes at the prestigious Musician’s Institute in Hollywood (an International gem for Global Musicians & Artists)
Her love of Songwriting, Television and Screenwriting continues to progress into the potent and passionate patterns of her life.
